TOPIC: APPLICATION OF ICT II

Introduction

The main function of any telecommunication network is to provide efficient transmission of information from point of origin to a point of termination.

Telecommunication Network

A telecommunication network is a collection of nodes and links that is capable of carrying audio, visual and data communications. It is a combination of nodes and links which are arranged in such a way that the message may pass from one part of the network to the other by travelling over variable nodes.

Smart messaging

Smart messaging was developed by Nokia and found only on Nokia phones. It allows people to do simple picture messaging with low cost, quick message transmission and high simplicity of regular text messages.

1.     SMS (short messaging service): is the most common type of text message and it is supported by a large number of mobile phones. It allows a maximum of 160 characters per message.
