Introduction

Games are usually designed based on different criteria like age, interest and ability. Most games are played for fun and relaxation.  Although some games help to build or develop the reasoning ability. Based on the versatility ability of the computer system, games have been stimulated and can now be played on the computer.

Computer Games

Computer games are games stored on the computer memory and are played by manipulating a mouse, keyboard or joystick in response to the graphics on the screen. computer games are sometimes called video games or PC games.

Types of Computer Games

o   Adventure games

o   Action games

o   Puzzle games

o   Combat games

o   Educational games

o   First person shooters

o   Third person view

o   Sports games

Advantages of computer games

1.     It helps relieve anxiety or pain

2.     Video games can help in making child’s brain sharper through mental stimulation

3.     It can be a time of bonding between adults and children

4.     Fast action games improve eye-hand coordination

5.     Computer games are good for relaxation and fun during free time

Disadvantages of computer games

1.     They can take lots of hours that could be channeled into more productive task

2.     Regular playing of computer games could result into RSI (repetitive strain injury) and other physical problems.

3.     Excessive use of the computer parts like the keyboard could damage this parts

4.     The impact of excessive visual medium can result into poor eye sight

5.     Long hours of playing computer games can also result in headaches and dizziness

User programs effectively use file operations through appropriate programming language syntax. The file management system manages the independent files and acts as the software interfaces between the user programs and file operations. Basic Operations of Computer Files 1.     Insertion: records must be inserted at the place dictated by the sequence of the keys.
