TOPIC:  GRAPHIC PACKAGES II

Introduction

For proper understanding of how to use graphic packages to create outstanding images, there is need to understand basic features of graphic packages, tools and their usage.

FEATURES

1.    Select tool: is used to select part of a drawing or the entire drawing. Clicking the arrow under the icon will open the selection tool options.

2.    Menu bar: this contains the various commands you use to accomplish a task.

3.    Tools box: the tool box contains various tools you can use to make your drawing.

4.    The drawing window or the printable area: this is where all drawings are done.

5.    Color palette: this contains the various colors you can add to your drawing.

6.    Title bar: this is the topmost bar on the graphic package window, it contains three buttons (maximize, minimize, and close) which are used to manipulate the windows. The title bar also contains the name of the file you are working with. The default name for all graphic file is “Graphic 1”. This name will be replaced with any name you give to the file.

TOOLS AND THEIR FUNCTIONS

1.    Pencil: it is used to draw object to draw object using free hand to draw.

2.    Fill with color: this is used to fill an entire drawn object with a particular color you select from the color palette.

3.    Text: it is used for typing text.

4.    Eraser/color eraser: this is used to erase a free-form selected area of a drawing and can also be used to erase color from a drawn object.

5.    Pick color: this tool is used to pick color from one area, object or from one object to another.

6.    Magnifier: it is used to make object to appear bigger than its actual size.
