TOPIC: COMPUTER CAREER OPPORTUNITIES
Introduction
In a secondary
school environment where there are more than one teacher, each of them is majored
in a particular field, some in science, commercial and art respectively,
according to their line of study. In the same trend is the computing world.
There are people who have acquired different training in diverse field of
computing and they carryout distinct duties based on their training and
experiences.
COMPUTER
PROFESSIONALS
Are the
collection of individuals or computer staff with relevant qualification,
training and certifications who work in the computer industry and have the
capacity to carry out different computer related operations in different
departments.
Computer
professional include:
1.
computer manager: is a computer personnel who has high
qualification in the field of computing. He is responsible for the overall
running of the computer department.
2.
System analyst: is a computer personnel with years of
experience in system development and programming to analyze proposed system.
3.
Programmer: is a computer personnel who develops
computer program based on the analysis or specification of the system analyst
to solve problems.
4.
Computer engineer: is a computer personnel who understands
the architectural design of the computer system.
5.
Computer technician: is a personnel who is skilled in
the practical work, they oversee the general operation of the computer hardware
system.
6.
Computer educator: are teachers, instructors and
lecturers. They are computer personnel that teach computer in different
academic levels ranging from university, polytechnic, college of education,
secondary school to primary school.
7.
Computer operator: is a computer personnel who has the
use of one or more application packages and could use them to solve problems.
QUALITIES OF A GOOD COMPUTER PROFESSIONAL
1.
A good computer professional is expected to have acquired
basic and relevant qualifications in the field of computing
2.
He must be able to manage time and stress since the
computer involves running of more than one operation at a time.
3.
He must have a good communication and interpersonal
relationship skill to understand the clients need and solve their problems.
4.
He must be able to work effectively with little or no
supervision
5.
He must be able to adapt quickly to changes since
technology changes regularly
6.
He must be teachable.
