TOPIC: APPLICATION OF ICT IN EVERYDAY LIFE II

Introduction

In todays interrelated world, information and communication technology (ICT) is extensively used by our country and it affects our lives every day. In the current digital age, every day new technologies have been accessible by people in their everyday life and increase their standards of living.

Impact of ICT in daily activities

1.    Health care: ICT assist doctors in carrying out diagnosis of ailments, treatments and research.

2.    Communication: ICT has improved the ways we reach out to friends and family. It has made communication very easy through mobile communication, fax machine and internet.

3.    Education: lectures are delivered online in remote locations and students can link up from anywhere in the world.

4.    Government: ICT has assisted the federal, state and local government in their day to day activities.

5.    Business: ICT has assisted greatly in the improving business across the world. with the use of computers, we can manage our business, shop online and pay for goods online.

6.    Banking: in the banking sector, we can transact business from anywhere in the country. All banks are networked and has made banking easy.

Limitations of ICT

1.    Reduced face-to-face interaction: people now a days mostly like online communication rather than real conversation, so people become more individualistic and introvert.

2.    Social disconnect: people are always busy with their own virtual world and they forget the real world with family and friends.

3.    Cost: many ICT gadgets are so expensive, so they are cost effective to purchase and to maintain.

4.    Job loss: job losses may occur because of manual operations being replaced by automation.

5.    Security / loss of privacy: use of social networking website risk the loss of personal data, caused by fraudulent people.

User programs effectively use file operations through appropriate programming language syntax. The file management system manages the independent files and acts as the software interfaces between the user programs and file operations. Basic Operations of Computer Files 1.     Insertion: records must be inserted at the place dictated by the sequence of the keys.
