TOPIC: SPREADSHEET II

 OBJECTIVE

At the end of this topic you should be able to:

1. Carry out basic functions on excel spreadsheet

Introduction

There are a number of features that are available in Excel to make your task easier.  Some of the main features are auto format or dragging and dropping features.

 

Auto format: These area features that allow users to choose many preset table formatting options. They include:

1.     Auto sum: This allows user to perform addition on selected cells (the data in the selected cells would be summed up)

2.     List Auto Fill: This would automatically extend cell of formatting when a new item added to the end of a list.

3.     Auto Shapes Toolbar: This allows the drawing of a number of geometrical shapes, arrows, flowcharts, stars and more.

4.     Wizard: This helps the user to work effectively by displaying various helpful tips and techniques based on what you are doing.

5.     Autofill: This feature that allows user to quickly fill cells with repetitive or sequential data such as chronological dates or numbers and repeated text. It can also be used to copy functions.

6.     Charts: These features help in presenting graphical representation of data in the form of Pie, Bar, Line charts, and so on.

7.     Pivotal table: This flips and sums data in seconds and allows user to perform data analysis and generating reports like periodic financial

statements, statistical reports etc.

User programs effectively use file operations through appropriate programming language syntax. The file management system manages the independent files and acts as the software interfaces between the user programs and file operations.
