OBJECTIVES: At the end of the lesson, you should be able to

Introduction
Technology of Different Information Ages
The age
of technology could be divided as follows:
a) Spiritual age
b) Stone age
c) Middle age
d) Industrial age
e) Electronic age
f) Future age
Spiritual Age: during the spiritual age, the mode of communication
was and still is majorly by revelation or vision or division. Each of these was
practiced before and during the stone age even to the present time.
Stone Age: This is the old historic period during which human
beings were using stones for tool making. The stone tools were made from
different kinds of stones. Farm tools such as cutlass, hoes, and axes etc. were
used for producing crops or hunting animals for food.
Middle Age: The middle age period witnessed various writings. The
oldest evidence of writing by man discovered so far consists of clay tablets
discovered at summer in Mesopotamia about 3000 BC. During this period the use
feathers and ink was invented for writing. Hence, the writing of scrolls and
other ancient writings.
Industrial Age: the industrial age came up with the
invention of machines to make communication better easier and faster than those
of the stone age and middle age. Some of the facilities or machines used in
this age include: type writing machine, printing machine, telephone, radio,
television telex etc.
Electronic Age: in this electronic age, information is sent
through computer system. Such medium of transmission involves: fax machine,
satellite, computers, electronic mail, internet.
Future Age: future age will be noted for moral instruction and
technological advancement on students’ attitude.
Information Age Tools
Stone Age: the used then were flint, chart sandstone, basalt,
sediments, pebbles, bifacial, or hand axe flake and blade tools
Iron Age: the major tools used were made of iron, steel and wrought
iron. Among these tools are arrows and spears.
Middle Age: tools include: feather pen, gun powder, stirrups for
writing and paper.
Industrial Age: the tools used were machines, coal
Electronic Age: the tools used were integrated circuits and
microprocessors.
