TOPIC: COMPUTER ETHICS

Introduction

When computers are properly handled, they function efficiently and serve for a long time. In order to have a conducive atmosphere in the computer room, certain planning and precautions have to be taken.

•       Ethics is a set of moral principles that govern the behavior of a group or individual.

•       Computer Ethics is a set of moral principle that regulate the use of computers

Computer Room Management Ethics

A computer room must be managed properly. Unlike our homes we need to keep a computer room in a good condition always by:

•      Making it free of dust.

•      Maintaining appropriate lightning.

•      Maintaining adequate and appropriate ventilation.

•      Proper setup of computer system

•      Eating and drinking should be avoided

•      Noise should be avoided

•      A maintenance officer should check all computers before and after use

Laboratory Rules and Regulation

  1. Chairs and tables should be arranged
  2. Power points should be attached to the wall close to each computer
  3. The system unit and peripherals such as mouse, keyboard etc. should be arranged in an orderly manner.
  4. A computer laboratory should be out of bound for non-computer users.
  5. Computers should be booted properly before use and shutdown properly after use to avoid damages.

User programs effectively use file operations through appropriate programming language syntax. The file management system manages the independent files and acts as the software interfaces between the user programs and file operations. Basic Operations of Computer Files 1.     Insertion: records must be inserted at the place dictated by the sequence of the keys.
