TOPIC: APPLICATION OF ICT IN EVERYDAY LIFE

Introduction

 

Information Communication Technology (ICT), is an umbrella term that includes all

technologies for the communication of information. It involves any medium to record.

Information whether on paper, pen, magnetic disk, optical disk such as CD or DVD, flash memory and so on.

 

ICT GADGETS

ICT also entails technology for broadcasting information such as radio, television

any technology for communication through voice, sound or images such as microphone,

Camera, loud speaker, telephone and cellular phone. Others include photocopying machine,

Digital camera, fax machine, calculator etc.

 

USES OF ICT GADGETS

Information communication technology has opened many opportunities.

Its tools are used every day to make life easy and comfortable. Some of the everyday use of ICT are:

1.     The radio is used to broadcast news and information.

2.     The television, makes available news of events, happening and activities taking

            place all over the world.

3.     Calculators can provide information on addition, subtraction, multiplication, and

            other arithmetic operations.

4.     Digital camera can be used to take photographs.

5.     Computers as electronic devices are used to process data in order to obtain information from them.

6.     Computer networks are used in banks to transfer money from one branch or bank to another.

7.     You can browse and download materials from the internet. You can search for vital information online.

8.     Telephones and mobile phones are used to exchange information.

User programs effectively use file operations through appropriate programming language syntax. The file management system manages the independent files and acts as the software interfaces between the user programs and file operations. Basic Operations of Computer Files 1.     Insertion: records must be inserted at the place dictated by the sequence of the keys.
